ah bengz & tua jiah's bkk trip part 3 of 3
16 Dec
took this boat to the temple. last night went to go-go bar, so today went to confess?! siao la... haha! we saw 2 types of boat services there - one is the long boat which is pretty expensive but you got the boat to yourself sama cab like that. the other one is the one we took, sama bus service la. haha!
found a traditional thai massage school inside the compound of Wat Po - the monastary where the Reclining Buddha is. mai siao siao wo, the school got website one ok! click here. in fact, while writing my bkk entries, then i found out, many places we visited, got website one. impressed!
me saw this very interesting statuette in the compound. wah thai massage looks violent le... err... somehow it also reminds me of karma sutra!!
we met this thai guy, at first look very friendly, said i look like thai people (dun wan!!!!)... we told him we going to the grand palace, but he said there today got buddhist day, the place was closed for prayer and would only open at 2pm. then he marked out several temples in the area on our map and suggested we go there first. but we didn't follow his direction la. when we reached grand palace, it was open! wah lau, simi buddhist day la! Tua Jiah said this was a common trick they use to con people.
we went to chinatown from grand palace. don't have train service, so we had to take cab. but hor, some cabbies don't want to take le. later then we knew why: chinatown got super jam!!! wah the traffic there damn terok (bad) manz! see the peekture you know liao. dunno why hor, somehow the chinatowns i been to so far - kl, bkk, london, sydney, frisco, singapore - mostly quite luan (chaotic) one. ah bengz's luan-ness ranking: bkk, kl, frisco, longdon-sydney-singapore tie.
mrt token. the MRT and the BTS don't use the same ticketing system one. for MRT, you buy this black contactless token for single trip. think they got stored value card also. usage is the same as our ezlink card la. however when you wanna exit the gantry, instead of tabbing the reader, you deposit the token into a coin slot. like that no need to worry about people not returning the token. people also don't have to pay stupid deposit or go through some (till now i still dunno) procedures to get the deposit back. hmm... sounds familiar hor?
Poseidon Entertainment Complex. arh... not the place for wholesome family entertainment though... heard this place got fish tank. ah bengz so far only seen amsterdam and our local fish tank so went there look see look see lor! wah impressed! amsterdam fish tanks are along a river one. singapore one, is along some lorongs (lane) one. here, its housed in a big complex!! inside cannot take peekture, so me describe as best as i can la.
first level is the lobby area manned by a few guys in suit. behind the reception got a pair of stairs leading to the second level. we told the guys we came here look see, then one of them led us to a dark room on level 2. inside is like a bar or lounge, got sofa and a bar counter. saw quite a number of guys inside all facing 1 direction - directly in front... the fish tank. its a glass panel about 2m tall and a few meters wide. inside, we saw many gals sitting inside chatting, smiling, posing, basically trying to look good la. wah... all of them sibeh chios sia, somemore all wearing bikinnis of different colors and different designs one - those kind that you don't wear to swim one!! wonder if they can see us too... heard, upstairs got model club where they got magazine models, actresses one but we didn't go see la. heehee!
very innocent looking tum yam soup hor? not like the red red intimidating ones we have in singapore. but hor... sibeh potent one ok! mai siao siao hor! we had this at Bua Restaurant, Silom Central (i think). finally we had thai food. haha! my comments: food nice, price cheap, portion big big! heehehee...
last stop for the day, we went disco! there was this place, CM2 at Novotel which was quite popular. alot of angmohs inside. got locals too. music was ok, at least they played songs, not techno. some of the gals came here to hook up foreigners one. a group approached us but we siam'ed! we guai guai one ok, only drink and beo chio bu's niah niahs...
17 dec
today we nuah the whole morning, skipped breakfast and had instant noodle for lunch. hahaha! afternoon, we went to Chatuchak, the much talked about weekend market in bkk. the place is... BIG!! got rows and rows of shops selling all sorts of stuff - t-shirts got ah, jeans got ah, trinkets got ah, buddha got ah etc etc. one thing i noticed hor, thai people seems to be quite into zen stuff and aromatherapy le.
Somboon Seafood. finally got chance to have dinner with my lil' sis. she very busy for the past few days wrapping up her project here in bkk. wanna buy her dinner also bor eng. the outlet we went to was supposed to be the main branch at Ratchada. supposed to be about 5min from MBK but its in an obscure location surrounded by car workshops. so typically the cabby had to make a few wrong turns before finding the shop la. not bad, we took about 20min to reach the place.
apparently this place so good that the thai royalties and even foreign vips also come here. inside they hung peektures of these people like the thai princess la, even got Koizumi, the japan prime minister.
the curried crab is very nice! the gravy is full of crab egg one. yummy! we also ordered thai satay. its very similar to our local satay except its more lean. they don't purposely put 1 layer of fat with the meat one. nice! one thing to note is that the shop don't accept credit cards. her boss very nice, gave us a treat!

ah bengz & tua jiah's bkk trip part 2 of 3
15 Dec
we went to the Siam Paragon today. took the BTS Skytrain to go there. wah they using the good old stored value card system we used to have for our MRT. wah nostalgic sia.
Siam Paragon is at Siam Station there. heard its very new, just open only. indeed very the new. so new until only a few shops open niah niah. but hor, can tell, the place sibei upmarket le! the shops there also sibei upmarket, many designer shops. got car showloom also, yes in a shopping complex, seemed quite typical in bkk. but here its not any toyota showloom hor, sell Lamborghini and Ferrari one ok! dun pray pray eh...
dunno how many thai can afford to buy. mabbe got many people here super rich la, i dunno... but have to drive out of the city la. bkk traffic is more jialat than singapore. back home ram abit bit cheong traffic light only, here ram abit niah niah you will see cars and tuk tuks flying liaoz! heehee...
lunch we went MK Restaurant, a steamboat place. wah, here steamboat like very popular le, alot of steamboat places. MK itself hor, got very many outlets liaoz. you look at the map, you will know, like Mac like that. heh... heard the roast duck here very nice. we got order. arh... bird flu? simi lai ay?? aiya bochup, eat first then say haha! its good, really. reminded me of Hong Kong's roast goose but not so fatty.
MBK Center. this place hor, inside is like our Lucky Plaza but bigger, way bigger! we went to watch King Kong there. the tix is 120 baht about s$5 niah niah!!! wah lau ay, so cheap, where to find??!! the cinema don't have digital screen and somemore the show got thai subtitles la but otherwise just like our local cinemas. plus, its cheap!
very interesting, there hor watch movie. before the movie starts hor must pay respect to the king first. no need to and say 万岁, 万岁, 万万岁 la just stand up and watch a short vileo paying tribute to him niah. thai people respect him alot, go everywhere can see his peekture hang up big big.
after show, Tua Jiah went for a haircut. here cut hair also cheap cheap, about 250 baht (s$10) including shampoo. too bad la, my hair still short short else i also cut here. haha...
we had dinner at Zen, a japanese restaurant. wah the waitresses there hor wear the kimono one. wah... i like!! ahem ahem... lil' sis had been telling the family about the food there nice and cheap also. we went there makan only ok.
Patpong. the main attraction here hor, should be the thai girl show la. but after reading xiaxue's blog, we decided to skip but still ended up along the streets over here. wah lau, we took a wrong turn and went into one lane hor, only got 2 pubs at the end of the lane, 1 on each side facing each other. the pubs only occupied by men sitting and also facing each other. when we approached, Tua Jiah said we tio beo liaoz, by man somemore!! wah lau, ka kin u-turn and chao! think that's a gay joint.
we jalan jalan the night market there but not very interesting le. sama our pasar malam like that. got men along the street jio jio us to watch sex show but we steady, we din cave... until we came to King's Corner. they din jio jio us la... we entered on our own! hahaha... King's Corner din have sex show, its a go-go bar. inside you see many girls wearing bikinni poledancing. err... more like shaking their butts la anyhow yeo niah niah... wah got many chio babies there wo, see liao almost lao pee hui (nose bleed)! then hor Tua Jiah whispered to me, "the chio ones hor, wonder how many of them are real..."
but really, some of them really sibei chio sia, more female than some females ok. definitely higher standard than our changi village ones. heehee...
note:
i just googled King's Corner and read that they employ mainly 'katoey' dancers i.e. transvestites/transsexuals...

of chips and trips
last nite dunno why suddenly started coughing. must confess, me had been eating alot of chips these 2 weeks, thanks to my colleague lor... and myself la. nor, the not-beri-song owner of sai gong dog lor.
we stocked up a mini-pantry full of tapioca chips and keropok (prawn cracker). bopian le, the keropok ah peh who comes to our office from time to time hor, he sells very nice chips le. my colleague, she even went to buy 2 fish tank-like containers to hold the chips. not the big big glass type la, more like the tank kids use for pet terrapins.
anyway i usually have sore throat first then cough le. dunno why this time different. not that i wanna fall sick la. got bkk trip akan datang le. cannot fall sick now. better drink more water...

kua chia
ah beng dun have ah beng chia (car), how can, tiobor? so me have been looking for my ah beng chia for sometime oredi, since before me started this blog. recently coe dropped liao, best ah! can afford car oredi. heheh.
take the so-called world class public transport sibei pissed manz, everytime fare hike but no noticeable service improvement one. all i wan is to go from point A to point B with minimal waiting time but they gimme TV Mobile and GPS-controlled fare stages for wat??!! and i still dun see why you need bus conductors when you have un-ezlink cards. so duh...
but enuff about public transport liao. this entry is supposed to be abt the hopefully akan datang ah beng chia. heehee... anyway this moring went to test drive couple of my shortlist cars which include:
hee... sidetracked too much liaoz... paisay. as i was saying, we - me and my siblings - went to test drive. before that, me took my sis's nissan sunny for a spin around my neighborhood. ya i know its up there, but its not my car, so its ok. me long time neber drive liao, skill very rusty, manz, so must practise abit first la. else wait the agent see me anyhow drive he scared then kick me out of the showloom how? heng its sunday, not much traffic on the road.
we first went to chevy showloom. when i looked at the optra sedan i sian jit bua (turn off) liaoz. the exterior is ok, but the dashboard... oh gosh... so ah peh!!!! and the door lock is the very retro-looking-stubby-thingy-sticking-out-where-the-window-glass-meets-the-door kind. italian design? hello??
paisay ah, me is IT powderful but car idiot, so when come to car, look is important. performance... arh... s'pore road, simi performance?? ram abit niah niah dunno cheong pass how many traffic lights liaoz! haha!
then we spotted the optra5 hatchback. hmm its much nicer than optra, design wise. more fierce, my sis said. still got that stubby lock thingy but mai hiam so much la... we took the optra5 for a spin (the sedan tio dropped from my list liaoz). the agent wanted to demo the traction control so jio me to accelerate when turning a bend. wah like initial d like dat manz! only din drift niah niah. shioks manz! but hor, think the engine quite loud le...
next we went down to mazda showloom. one thing hor, me got preference for mazda3 la but its more ex- le. last time, i liked the astina, find the mazda3 got some resemblance le. the dashboard definitely looks more chio than chevy. overall mazda3 definitely score points in the look department. driving it also felt good and engine seemed less noisy than chevy. and... this one definitely is ah beng chia! hahahaha!!!
ok, next thing is to work out the financing and go for refresher course (must la, else wait meimeis scared dun dare to sit my car how?).
then mabbe next time ask johnny to zhng my car?? nah... chio enough liao, no need to zhng oredi! heh!
take the so-called world class public transport sibei pissed manz, everytime fare hike but no noticeable service improvement one. all i wan is to go from point A to point B with minimal waiting time but they gimme TV Mobile and GPS-controlled fare stages for wat??!! and i still dun see why you need bus conductors when you have un-ezlink cards. so duh...
but enuff about public transport liao. this entry is supposed to be abt the hopefully akan datang ah beng chia. heehee... anyway this moring went to test drive couple of my shortlist cars which include:
- mazda3
- chevrolet optra
- mitsubishi lancer sport (not testing today)
