ah bengz & tua jiah's bkk trip part 3 of 3

16 Dec

took this boat to the temple. last night went to go-go bar, so today went to confess?! siao la... haha! we saw 2 types of boat services there - one is the long boat which is pretty expensive but you got the boat to yourself sama cab like that. the other one is the one we took, sama bus service la. haha!

found a traditional thai massage school inside the compound of Wat Po - the monastary where the Reclining Buddha is. mai siao siao wo, the school got website one ok! click here. in fact, while writing my bkk entries, then i found out, many places we visited, got website one. impressed!

me saw this very interesting statuette in the compound. wah thai massage looks violent le... err... somehow it also reminds me of karma sutra!!

we met this thai guy, at first look very friendly, said i look like thai people (dun wan!!!!)... we told him we going to the grand palace, but he said there today got buddhist day, the place was closed for prayer and would only open at 2pm. then he marked out several temples in the area on our map and suggested we go there first. but we didn't follow his direction la. when we reached grand palace, it was open! wah lau, simi buddhist day la! Tua Jiah said this was a common trick they use to con people.

we went to chinatown from grand palace. don't have train service, so we had to take cab. but hor, some cabbies don't want to take le. later then we knew why: chinatown got super jam!!! wah the traffic there damn terok (bad) manz! see the peekture you know liao. dunno why hor, somehow the chinatowns i been to so far - kl, bkk, london, sydney, frisco, singapore - mostly quite luan (chaotic) one. ah bengz's luan-ness ranking: bkk, kl, frisco, longdon-sydney-singapore tie.

mrt token. the MRT and the BTS don't use the same ticketing system one. for MRT, you buy this black contactless token for single trip. think they got stored value card also. usage is the same as our ezlink card la. however when you wanna exit the gantry, instead of tabbing the reader, you deposit the token into a coin slot. like that no need to worry about people not returning the token. people also don't have to pay stupid deposit or go through some (till now i still dunno) procedures to get the deposit back. hmm... sounds familiar hor?

Poseidon Entertainment Complex. arh... not the place for wholesome family entertainment though... heard this place got fish tank. ah bengz so far only seen amsterdam and our local fish tank so went there look see look see lor! wah impressed! amsterdam fish tanks are along a river one. singapore one, is along some lorongs (lane) one. here, its housed in a big complex!! inside cannot take peekture, so me describe as best as i can la.

first level is the lobby area manned by a few guys in suit. behind the reception got a pair of stairs leading to the second level. we told the guys we came here look see, then one of them led us to a dark room on level 2. inside is like a bar or lounge, got sofa and a bar counter. saw quite a number of guys inside all facing 1 direction - directly in front... the fish tank. its a glass panel about 2m tall and a few meters wide. inside, we saw many gals sitting inside chatting, smiling, posing, basically trying to look good la. wah... all of them sibeh chios sia, somemore all wearing bikinnis of different colors and different designs one - those kind that you don't wear to swim one!! wonder if they can see us too... heard, upstairs got model club where they got magazine models, actresses one but we didn't go see la. heehee!

very innocent looking tum yam soup hor? not like the red red intimidating ones we have in singapore. but hor... sibeh potent one ok! mai siao siao hor! we had this at Bua Restaurant, Silom Central (i think). finally we had thai food. haha! my comments: food nice, price cheap, portion big big! heehehee...

last stop for the day, we went disco! there was this place, CM2 at Novotel which was quite popular. alot of angmohs inside. got locals too. music was ok, at least they played songs, not techno. some of the gals came here to hook up foreigners one. a group approached us but we siam'ed! we guai guai one ok, only drink and beo chio bu's niah niahs...

17 dec

today we nuah the whole morning, skipped breakfast and had instant noodle for lunch. hahaha! afternoon, we went to Chatuchak, the much talked about weekend market in bkk. the place is... BIG!! got rows and rows of shops selling all sorts of stuff - t-shirts got ah, jeans got ah, trinkets got ah, buddha got ah etc etc. one thing i noticed hor, thai people seems to be quite into zen stuff and aromatherapy le.

Somboon Seafood. finally got chance to have dinner with my lil' sis. she very busy for the past few days wrapping up her project here in bkk. wanna buy her dinner also bor eng. the outlet we went to was supposed to be the main branch at Ratchada. supposed to be about 5min from MBK but its in an obscure location surrounded by car workshops. so typically the cabby had to make a few wrong turns before finding the shop la. not bad, we took about 20min to reach the place.

apparently this place so good that the thai royalties and even foreign vips also come here. inside they hung peektures of these people like the thai princess la, even got Koizumi, the japan prime minister.

the curried crab is very nice! the gravy is full of crab egg one. yummy! we also ordered thai satay. its very similar to our local satay except its more lean. they don't purposely put 1 layer of fat with the meat one. nice! one thing to note is that the shop don't accept credit cards. her boss very nice, gave us a treat!

other misc peektures...

bkk graffiti got standard ok!

this guy was bbq'ing suckling pig outside Somboon Seafood. per animal is 900 baht, about s$38 only!!

cab fare table by distance
